I think my best artwork was my slab box. I like it because i like the colors and the pattern that is on it. the artwork that I would redo is my multiple set because they were thin or broke. the thing I learned that I could use outside of art is patience with the things im working with and if something breaks try again. the thing i wish I could have done in art is work on more scultures things I could use.

the glazes i used are lilac red yellow black medium blue and tan. i created this by wanting to make a cup and i thought the best way to finish it was with a bowl and a plate. i wanted to do something different so i did marble and i actully enjoyed it. first i started getting clay and making a cup i put clay around a bottle and made a slab i waited a day for it to firm up then i made the handle and i started looking at quotes. i like quotes a lot and what they mean behind them. i started making the bowl and that was the easiest i pressed clay into the bowl and waited to take it out then smoothed it out. then i started making the plate and that wasnt my favorite you have to make sure you have the right thickness so it doesnt break mine chipped. i used marble for the design i used shaving cream and paint. i looked up marble sets to get some inspiration and quotes to make it come together. for the cup i used blue and yellow and i put a quote see the good on it and that was my favorite. for the bowl i used medium blue and red i put blue on the inside and blue red marble on the outside. for the plate i used tan and lilac to make it appear more.
The things I used were white clay, the colored powders, I used yellow and turquoise, I used a bowl and pressed the clay into the bowl. I watched videos to learn the process I learned its easier to press the powder into it and put water to mix it in and then stack it and cut it then press it into the bowl. I let it dry in the bowl for a couple min to let it set so it wouldn't break while taking it out. then we fired it and i put a clear glaze on it. At first I failed at it it started mixing together and started tearing because it was so thin. I also learned Knowledge of the rules of perspective i learned that by having my bowl break and having to make another one. i also learned Drawing from memory and imagination by remembering the video and doing that.
in this artwork I used engage and persist i had to make this artwork 2 times. The first time it cracked and broke tried to fix it but it didn't work. I made it the second time and it went a lot better. the second tecknique i used was envision I thought of ways to make this relief tile without breaking like the first one and it went a lot better. The glazed I used was glade green, bright orange, dutch blue, light gray, and maple sugar.
First i started by making a slab. i started making coils and twirling them and made flat coils and blended them together i also made small balls and lined them up then made for coils and twirled coils and topped it off with a coil. the glazes i used was lilac on bottom wisteria purple on top and carnivale on the whole thing.
How I made the slab box was I made the print first. then Irolled out the clay and used the tracing templates at guidence and so I knew what the size should be. I started puting together the box and when I got the top off it came apart so I used engage and persist and I made it thicker and when I made the box I waited a couple days to cut it so it was mor durable. I also used develop and craft I learned using a new tool to make designs and I used my tools to make the swirls stand out more. the glazes I used was brick yadro print and rich chocolate
2 studio habits that i used was observe and devolep craft. first i used observe by observing the 2 pieces to put together to make it hollow. i also used devolop craft by using a certain design and it not working so i decided to poke holes in it and it ended up looking decent. the glaze i used was obsideian.
the studio habits i used are engage and persist i used that by i drew the pattern on the roller. when i got the hot glue it wouldn't coperate so i didn't follow the pattern and free handed it. it worked a lot better but i had to watch it more closly so the hot glue wouldn't connect to eachother. another studio habit i used was devolop craft i used this by i used something new that i never used before i never used a hot glue gun with clay.
first i started with the blueish green. i started brainstorming what i wanted and i wanted something bowl like and something with texture. i strted shaping the bowl and decided i wanted to put little layed out circles in the inside. after i did that i wanted a blue and green color. the second one i did was bowlike with a big lip the lip gets big then smaller in the front i thought it would give a different look. the 3rd one is the one i had most trouble on i didnt no what i wanted and i had to retry multiple times, i decided i wanted to makes squares and put them together i used a coral color and a fruity pop color. |
